Biography
Ken Moelis is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Moelis & Company, a global investment bank that provides financial advisory, capital raising and asset management services to a broad client base including corporations, institutions and governments. With over 580 employees across 11 offices globally, the firm has advised on over $600 billion of transactions and has $4.1 billion of total asset management capital.
 
Since its inception, Moelis & Company has advised on many of the largest and most complex M&A transactions, including InBev/Anheuser-Busch, Microsoft/Yahoo! and Blackstone/Hilton Hotels. The firm’s Recapitalization & Restructuring Group is currently ranked the No. 4 restructuring advisor globally and recently advised the Government of Dubai on the restructurings of Dubai World and Nakheel. Moelis & Company has won a number of accolades for its client focus and innovation, including being named Best Global Independent Investment Bank by Euromoney Magazine in 2010 and Most Innovative Boutique by The Banker in 2010 and 2011.
 
Prior to founding Moelis & Company, Mr. Moelis was President of UBS Investment Bank from 2005 to 2007. He joined UBS in 2001 and previously held positions including Joint Global Head of Investment Banking and Head of Americas Investment Banking. Prior to UBS, Mr. Moelis was Head of Corporate Finance at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette from 1996 through 2000. He was previously Co-Head of the firm’s Los Angeles office from 1990 through 1996 and began his investment banking career in 1981 at Drexel Burnham Lambert.
 
Mr. Moelis was recently named to the 50 Most Influential list by Bloomberg Markets. He is a member of the Board of the Tourette Syndrome Association, the Wharton Board of Overseers and the Board of Governors of Cedars Sinai Hospital. He holds an undergraduate degree and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is married to Julie Taffet and is the father of three sons and a daughter.
