PLEASE NOTE, THIS EVENT STANDS CANCELLED
The Wharton Club of Hong Kong is delighted to continue its Wharton Legal Eagle Series which aims to provide legal insight, in a practical and immediately applicable fashion, on a variety of topics to business leaders in Hong Kong.
This lunchtime session will cover a popular topic, namely comparing offshore structures (Cayman Islands, BVI etc.) versus the new onshore Hong Kong structuring options, such as open-ended fund companies (OFCs) and limited partnership funds (LPFs).
This session will be led by Wharton alumnus David Cameron (WG08, L08, G08) who is founder of his own Hong Kong law firm, David Cameron Law Office (www.dc-lo.com) and Anthony Oakes, who is a partner based in Ogier's Hong Kong office and is the head of Ogier’s finance practice in Asia.
We also recognize that both networking and content is valuable so this event will consist of one hour of content and one hour of networking.
We are also introducing “bring a friend” pricing to encourage attendees to bring a colleague, client, etc. who would also be interested in partaking in this content and networking.
After this lunchtime session, you will have working knowledge of:
- A comparative overview of offshore vs onshore structures
- What considerations should be taken into account when deciding where to set up
- Recent developments in both offshore and onshore arenas
- Cost, timetables and third-parties involved
- Common pitfalls and advice on how to minimize or avoid entirely
- Most mis-understood or underappreciated aspects of offshore and onshore
- Typical client profile being attracted to offshore versus onshore
- Opening a bank account (the ever-elusive target!)
And any other topics/questions submitted during registration or asked during Q&A
