To build on the momentum of our two recent successful Alumni Live events on real estate and high tech automotive investing, we are most excited to launch our third Alumni Live event on Biotech and Health care which has been a hot sector globally supported by strong demand. Hong Kong Stock Exchange has recently changed its listing rule for the biotech sector enabling a string of upcoming IPOs, reflected in soaring health care stocks valuation.

We are honored to have Ms Bihua Chen (WG98), our alumna based in Boston to share her 20 years of biotech investment expertise. Please feel free to let us know the areas you would like her to talk about in advance or over Q&A at dinner.

Bihua Chen is the founder of Cormorant Asset Management, LP (“Cormorant”). Ms. Chen is the portfolio manager of Cormorant Global Healthcare Master Fund, LP, a long/short equity fund invested in publicly traded healthcare companies, a separately managed account, and Cormorant Private Healthcare Fund I LP, a private equity fund invested in privately held healthcare companies. Cormorant’s asset under management have grown from less than $150mm at the launch in May of 2013 to over $1 billion in 2018. Prior to founding Cormorant, Ms. Chen managed a separately managed account focused on the healthcare sector as a sub-adviser to a large, multi-strategy hedge fund based in New York. During Ms. Chen’s time managing the account (from 2005 through 2010) the account grew from $75 million in assets to $800 million in assets. Ms. Chen obtained an MBA from the Wharton School of Business in 1998 and graduated with a Master of Science, Molecular Biology, from the Graduate School of Biomedical Science at Cornell Medical College in 1994. Ms. Chen also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Genetics and Genetic Engineering from Fudan University, Shanghai, China, which she received in 1990.

About Alumni Live!
Each of the Alumni Live! events will have a specific topic. It will be organized as a small group lunch / dinner (12-15 people) with 2-3 alumni (or outside guests) specialized in that topic to share their insight and experience while other audience can pose questions and exchange thoughts in a dynamic set up. These topics could be those common talking points among our smaller group chat in many of our gatherings but just lack of a proper venue for us to focus on and carry forward. Again, this is a smaller scale forum targeted to encourage closer and dynamic flow of ideas and experience sharing across generations. Content in each of the Alumni Live! event would mainly be driven by the participant group. Any one of us would be more than welcome to suggest topics and volunteer in the event. Based on initial feedback, we plan to start with Real Estate, Fintech, Infrastructure, Venture Capital and Healthcare etc. in the coming year subject to responses and interest among our fellow alumni.
