One of the goals of Wharton Club of Hong Kong is to promote a healthy and active lifestyle among our alumni. In continuation of our objective, the Wharton Club of Hong Kong along with Penn Club of Hong Kong is happy to organise a Dragon Boat team along with alumni of Carnegie Mellon University to take part in this year's Dragon boat race at Stanley. We will be participating in the mixed category with a team comprising of both male and female members.
Last year this event was a big success with over 20+ alumni taking part. This year even before launching the event we already have 15+ alumni from last year confirmed to take part again.
We highly encourage our alumni to register at the earliest so that we can plan for more than one boat if required
Main Race: 18th June, 2018 (Dragon Boat, Tuen Ng Festival)
Practice Sessions: 12 hours of practice sessions of 1hr and 2hr from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon on Saturdays from April 7th through May 26th (May 26th warm up race)
Mandatory Minimum Sessions to participate on race day: At least 6 hours of practice sessions (we understand that attending all 12 hours might not be possible for all alumni who sign-up)
Venue: Stanley main beach, both for practice and main race
Friends / Guests: Given this is an outdoor exercise event, feel free to invite your friends / partners.
Special Request: Female alumni / female friends are specially requested as we need to have minimum number of female crew per boat to be eligible under the mixed category as per competition rules.
Price: HKD 2,000 with last date to register till March 31st
Inclusions: The price includes the cost of boat rental, equipment, trainer, steerman for all sessions. Plus uniform, tent / classroom during race day.
Exclusions: In case the group decides to hire a junk boat on race day or organise any social events etc, such extras will be charged separately. FYI last year, after practice socializing via group barbecue, brunch etc were a big hit among alumni.
